- Published international TTNS sources show various electrode placements; however, the PTNS protocol specifies electrode locations.
- We position the lower, stick-to-skin electrode at its PTNS location at the inside edge of the arch on the soft skin 0.5 inch forward of the tough heel skin.
- We developed a placement template aligned with U.S. PTNS anatomical practice, centering the upper, stick-to-skin electrode at the needle entry site.
- The template is intended to simplify electrode installation and improve placement consistency. A few early adopters have reported that it facilitates installation and consistent placement.
- Template use is optional. Individuals may research and choose alternative electrode locations.
As with PTNS. . .
- A patient NEVER removes an electrode with the TENS device ON.
- The Stimulation period is 30 minutes.
- Stimulation is increased to noticeable, but not painful levels.
- Some reports indicate that benefit may begin after 6 or 7 weeks.
Some TTNS patients do initial treatments more than once per week. The PTNS protocol specifies 12 weekly treatments followed by once-monthly maintenance.
TNS (Tibial Nerve Stimulation) does not benefit everyone.
More on Stimulation Intensity follows.
